The Story
Angela and Jason wanted to create a dedicated recording studio on their Dripping Springs property, one that would provide the privacy, acoustic performance, and professional environment needed for recording and creative work.
Rather than adapting an existing room inside the home, the project was designed as a detached addition, allowing the studio to function as its own purpose-built space while still feeling connected to the property.
TRS Build guided the project from the initial Design & Development phase through construction, coordinating the architectural, engineering, and interior design work before bringing the new studio to life.
The Details
This detached recording studio was built from the ground up with both sound isolation and comfort in mind.
The structure included full framing with LVL beams, studs, plywood and OSB sheathing, and exterior house wrap. A specialized soundproofing system was incorporated throughout the studio using Green Glue noise-proofing compound, drywall, furring hat channels, and blown-in insulation between rooms. Together, these materials help reduce sound transfer and create a more controlled recording environment.
Sound-rated fixed-glass windows from the Andersen 100 Series were installed in multiple sizes, including tempered and Low-E glass options. Blown-in wall insulation and batt roof insulation were also added to improve energy efficiency while supporting the acoustic performance of the space.
The interior was completed with drywall, paint, interior and exterior doors, baseboards, and custom MDF shelving. Wood-look laminate flooring and carpet were installed in different areas of the studio, along with floor leveling and transitions for a clean, finished result.
The completed space provides Angela and Jason with a comfortable, functional, and professionally constructed recording studio designed specifically around the way they plan to use it.
